TV Personality Dick Dyszel to Emcee

TIVA’s 2008 Peer Awards Ceremony

Dick DyselOn TV, on the Internet, and on stage, Dick Dyszel is a man of many faces. And because he’s also a familiar face at TIVA events, we’re particularly happy to announce that Dick will be our master of ceremonies for the 2008 Peer Awards Ceremony, to be held at the National Press Club in Washington on Saturday, November 22.

Dyszel has been entertaining Washingtonians for decades. He arrived in C in 1972 to produce and host “The Bozo Circus” on DCA, Channel 20. By the end of that year, he also had assumed the role of Captain 20, DC’s most famous children’s personality; in February 1973, he brought vampire horror host Count Gore De Vol to Saturdaynight TV.

Over the next 15 years, Dyszel captivated Washington-area children with such popular shows as “The Channel 20 Club,” “W.O.W.!” and “Kids’ Break,” which won the local Emmy for Outstanding Children’s Program in 1984. He has also produced and appeared in dozens of specials and PSAs, as well as a variety of commercial and industrials.

After Channel 20 shut down its production facilities in 1987, Dyszel started the area’s first all-digital DJ service and soon became a major provider of music for weddings, parties, and commercial fashion events. In 1998, he became the first horror host of the Internet, producing and appearing in all-new streaming episodes of “Creature Feature,” while expanding personal appearances around the country, interviewing major celebrities, and meeting with his new national fan base.

In 2007, Dick added a new facet to his career, appearing as a Las Vegas-style stage hypnotist! He trained under renowned master hypnotist Geoff Ronning, and already has produced and hosted his own TV special on hypnosis. Dyszel also does corporate events and appears regularly at the Comedy Spot in Balston Commons.

We hope you’ll join Dick and over 300 production professionals for the Peer Awards Ceremony this year, recognizing the mid-Atlantic’s best film, video, and Internet work. Mark your calendar now for Saturday, November 22, for the 2008 Peer Awards Ceremony at the National Press Club.
