About the Peer Awards

The Peer Awards began in 1997 through the efforts of several board members of the former Washington Film and Video Council (WFVC). Their intent was to provide well-deserved recognition to those media production professionals who create the outstanding work that consistently comes from the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The WFVC folded in 2000 and a year later, ITVA-DC stepped up to offer its support and combined the competition with its existing, popular 'ITVA-DC' video festival. Today, the Peer Awards continue to celebrate local excellence in media and offer one of the most sought-after awards in our community. The 2010 Peer Awards Ceremony will be held at the National Press Club on Saturday, November 13, at 6:00 pm.

In celebration of the 10 years that ITVA/TIVA-DC has been sponsoring the awards, the “Classic PEER” Award was created for this year only.
