Who We Are

Television, Internet and Video Association of DC (TIVA-DC), a local not-for-profit (501(c)(3)) organization was formed to serve the needs of the growing Washington/Baltimore media production community.  Focused on the burgeoning local market, TIVA offers an entrée into a world of career opportunities, new-industry technology seminars, educational outreach, mentoring and award ceremonies.

Our History

TIVA-DC has deep roots in the Washington/Baltimore media production community. Its membership came from the DC chapter of the natonal organization founded in 1970 as the National Industrial Television Association (NITA), which became the International Television Association (ITVA) in 1978.  In 2001, the national organization (ITVA) changed its name again to the Media Communication Association (MCA-I), but the DC chapter, ITVA-DC, decided against change and kept its name.  In 2007, MCA-I forced ITVA-DC to change its name to MCAI-DC.  At that time, a number of local members created an independent organization, TIVA-DC, in order to assure local control image and management.

Our Mission

The mission of TIVA-DC is to connect the media production community to jobs, resources and educational opportunities in the National Capital region.

The Peer Awards

Recognition of the outstanding work created by area professionals is one of the most celebrated social events each year: The DC Peer Awards.  The event, which is held in October at the National Press Club, is sponsored by TIVA-DC.
